Hospital Administrators and Medical Physicists Have a New Partner in Comprehensive Commissioning and Quality Assurance.

LinearPhysics provides a proprietary method of efficient commissioning, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, while delivering swift and accurate results.

[January 1, 2017] Senior Medical Physicist, Wm. Gary Shields, MSc. DABR has launched LinearPhysics, an innovative solution for small clinics, medical centers and educational institutions. Linear Physics’ consultative approach allows customization of services to better meet client needs for the commissioning of linear accelerators, which are used in radiation treatment in hospitals and healthcare centers around the world.

Shields, who has a Master of Science from University of Cincinnati, is certified in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics by the American Board of Radiology and has 25 years of experience as a medical physicist.  He has certifications in Radiation Physics in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Virginia, Florida, New York and Texas. Aside from having commissioned over 120 linear accelerators including Varian, Elekta, and Siemens, he recently commissioned the first clinical Varian Halcyon in the US.

LinearPhysics offers rigorous, thorough commissioning methodology with clear communication at every stage of the project. Their flexibility in scheduling means no downtime for clinical your physicists. Clients receive complete documentation of results and board-certified medical physicists are available to answer any follow up questions.

“The Medical Physicist’s responsibilities have become so broad and complex, specifically linear accelerator commissioning.  Linear Physics works with the medical physicist as a team, so the medical physicist can focus on their daily duties while still having full input into the commissioning process.” says Shields.

“Clients need to be confident that they have the best, most up-to-date commissioning services for their equipment to assure positive patient outcomes. We partner with our clients to customize a solution that fits their budget and timing needs, whether commissioning a new accelerator or performing annual QA.”
